Marissa Biswabic, Correctional Services Coordinator
Marissa is an art therapist in training who has a passion for community engagement and expression through art making and has previous experience working in schools, psychiatric hospitals, and various community organizations. Marissa primarily works in visual art as a painter, but also enjoys expressing herself through singing and writing. She currently holds her bachelor’s degree in psychology and studio art from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and her master's degree in art therapy from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College.


This mixed-methods study investigates the impact of community-based trauma-informed art therapy on prosocial behaviors, feelings of belonging, and social connectedness in a population of inner-city adolescents. The researcher observed multi-arts studio programming, collected and coded behavioral data, and compiled reflections of each session attended.
