Natasha Westrich-Wood, MA, ATR-BC graduated from Rhodes College with majors in Psychology and Art History, then received her Master’s degree in Art Therapy from SIUE. For 20 years, she has worked as an art therapist at the hematology/oncology pediatric clinics at Mercy Children’s Hospital and Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis.
Pediatric hematology/oncology patients share their experience and stories through both their art and their artist statements in the annual art therapy art show, Art from the Heart. Participants report an increase in self-esteem, empowerment, and connection with the community. Ten years of artwork and statements from the show, supportive research, and five case studies will be presented.
