Emily Grabo is a Board Certified Registered Art Therapist (ATR-BC) and Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Ohio. She currently is the Art Therapy Coordinator for Akron Children's Hospital in Akron, OH. She has clinical experience working within the Pediatric Medical Art Therapy setting providing group and individual Art Therapy to patients, family, and staff as well as clinical experience in short term crisis stabilization servicing a diverse clientele of adults with mental health diagnoses and substance abuse disorders. Emily specializes in grief and loss, substance abuse, and trauma informed care.


This presentation utilizes a case study to explore the role of art therapy in the treatment of a female adolescent with osteosarcoma. A focus on strengthening artist identity will be highlighted as a means to increase resiliency and ability to cope with stressors of treatment.
