Working in the field of aging for 10 years, she has developed new art therapy programs for older adults, with special interest in creative dementia care, intergenerational creativity, animation, poetry, and interdisciplinary research around technology in art therapy.
Emily MacArthur, MAAT, LPC
I graduated from SAIC in 2012 with a MAAT and have dedicated my professional career to working with older adults with specialty in dementia and grief work. Currently, I work in an independent living community and operate a community open studio approach to art therapy.
Margaret Carlock-Russo, EdD, LCAT, ATR-BC, ATCS
Dr. Carlock-Russo’s clinical experience includes special education, community outreach, sub-acute and residential care, private practice, and art therapy education. As former Governmental Affairs Committee chair of the American Art Therapy Association, (AATA) and current president of the Arizona Art Therapy Association, (AzATA), she actively engages in art therapy advocacy at the state and national levels.
Monarchs in Migration is a community art initiative, exploring transformation and migration through the creation of hundreds of mosaic butterflies. Engaging with the monarch as metaphor has enabled both residents and employees to create around the life transitions of aging and the global migration of senior living workers.
