I am a recent graduate of Eastern Virginia Medical School's Graduate Art Therapy and Counseling Program. I am currently working as an art therapist with children and adolescents in a partial hospitalization program in Norfolk, VA. I am specialized in medical art therapy, trauma informed art therapy, school art therapy, and depth psychology.
This paper will discuss the importance of mental health advocacy and assessment within a hospital setting and how the prioritization of effective mental health treatment may positively impact a patient’s treatment outcome. Presenters will apply case material from clinical art therapy rotations within two separate hospital units.
