Katrina Carroll-Haskins, MA
Katrina Carroll-Haskins is an art therapist and educator. She is currently a PhD candidate and research fellow at Drexel University. She has worked therapeutically with groups and individuals diagnosed with autism, dementia, intellectual disabilities, chemical dependency, eating disorders, trauma, and sexual offenses. Her research interests include art-based supervision, professional identity development for art therapists, and innovative technologies (VR, AR) and their applications to art therapy practice.

Kathryn Snyder, MA, ATR-BC, LPC
Kathryn Snyder, MA, ATR-BC, LPC, is an art therapist with over 20 years of clinical experience in Philadelphia. She is the founder of Parent to Child, her private practice that focuses on children and families with a collaborative treatment model, emphasis on developmental practice and social skills groups. In 2016 she created Spark School-Based art therapy. She is currently beginning her PhD studies at Drexel University.


In this presentation, we will present findings from two studies focusing on virtual reality art making tools as well as their relevance to art therapy practice and research. Findings indicate that virtual art making helps reduce inhibitions, activate full body movements, and enhance mood and creative play among participants.
