Kate Mullins, Student
Kate Mullins is a second year student at George Washington University, pursuing a M.A. in Art Therapy. She is currently interning with Tracy's Kids at Children's National Medical Center.
During the first year of the GWU program, Kate interned with Laura Miles (ATR-BC) at Fort Belvoir Community Hospital's Residential Treatment Facility. The year-long experience encompassed group art therapy with active duty military personnel in substance abuse treatment, along with weekly supervision. Laura and Kate will be presenting "El Duende Side by Side" at the 2019 American Art Therapy Conference, an exploration of process painting within the supervision process.
This session presents a supervision model rooted in artmaking. The presentation explores the supervisor/supervisee relationship in the context of El Duende Process Painting. The panel will discuss the impact of structuring supervision around dual-process artmaking, intern development, mutual self-disclosure, and attunement in the supervision relationship.
