Craig Balfany, MPS, ATR-BC, LPC has worked as an Art Therapist since 1988. He is the Art Therapy Program Chair at the Adler Graduate School in Minnetonka, MN. His artistic practice includes sculpting, photography, ceramics and mask making.

Leah Baird
My name is Leah Baird and I am receiving my master's degree in art therapy from Adler Graduate School. I received my BA in studio art from St. Olaf College and decided to pursue art therapy because it combines my love of art and my desire to help people.

Rebecca Urban
My name is Rebecca Urban, and I am an art therapy student at Adler Graduate school. I believe in art therapy because throughout my life and experiences I have seen the power art has in connecting people. Through the art and connection I have watched people achieve their wellness.


This presentation will describe the history and outcomes of a collaborative open studio art therapy program that advocated for and supported individuals and family members impacted by epilepsy. An overview of the process and products and the impact on participants’ self-esteem and social connection will be discussed.
