Matthew Bernier, MCAT, ATR-BC, an Associate Professor at Eastern Virginia Medical School in the Graduate Art Therapy & Counseling Program has presented nationally and internationally on the Expressive Therapies Continuum, domestic violence, puppet play in child development, and therapeutic puppetry. He has published in books and professional journals.
This workshop provides an overview of the ETC and its application to therapeutic puppetry through exploration of puppet making materials, puppets and performing objects, and acts of meaning. Thoughtful attention to aesthetic choices and movement through the components and levels of the ETC can influence therapeutic effect.
