Nancy Gerber, Ph.D, ATR-BC,is a Clinical Associate Professor at Drexel University where authored and formerly directed the Ph.D Program in Creative Arts Therapies. She is also a visiting scholar at Florida State University Dr. Gerber has published and presented nationally and internationally on art therapy assessment, doctoral education, mixed methods, and arts based research. Dr. Gerber was the first recipient of the Distinguished Educator Award from the AATA.
Theresa Van Lith, PhD, ATR-BC, AThR
Dr. Van Lith’s research interests have stemmed from working in the mental health system back in her home country, Australia. She has since investigated art therapy professional development and service delivery models in the United States, such as implementing best practice interventions with children and using web-based art therapy with university students.
The current socio-economic and scientific climate demands a rigorous research agenda, generating a credible evidence-base for art therapy practice. In this presentation, we review the current status of research, correlate opportunities, and identify challenges for developing a robust strategic research plan and evidence base for the profession.
