Jason Cruz, MA, ATR
As RAW’s Clinical Supervisor Jason Cruz has been at he Clinical Supervisor and Expressive Arts Therapist at RAW Artworks in Lynn, MA since 1997 providing guidance to all program staff on the therapeutic issues that arise in their groups. He also plays a major role in program development. Outside of RAW Jason has his own art and photography business, CRUZ ART. He serves as a youth minister at St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Lynn and is co-founder of Build a New America (BANA) Fellowship that address racial and social issues through action.
Lisa Furman, MA, ATR-BC, LCAT, LPC
Lisa Furman, MA, ATR-BC, LCAT, LPC is the program director at Raw Art Works, a non-profit community based arts program in Lynn, MA. She is the former director of the Master of Arts in Art Therapy and Counseling Program at Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, CT. She has worked as an art therapist in psychiatric, educational and community based programs with children, adults and families in New York and Connecticut for over 25 years. She has presented nationally on her work with cancer patients and current issues in art therapy ethics. Her book entitled "Ethics in Art Therapy: Challenging Topics for a Complex Modality" was published by Jessica Kingsley Publishers in 2013.
This presentation will describe the model for an established community-based program rooted in art therapy that provides programming to support boys and adolescents of color in an effort to address their complex needs and challenges in the larger context of gender, cultural, and societal expectations.
